IMA President, Rick Santos

Leading, Learning and Looking Ahead

by Rick Santos, President and CEO, IMA World Health

Dear friends,

Compiling the IMA World Health Annual Report is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s an exercise in self-reflection as well as one of celebration—we take a detailed look back on the hard work and impact of the past 12 months, then we get to share the joy with our generous supporters who make it all possible.

In considering our work over the last year, I see things through three lenses: Leading, Learning and Looking Ahead. We chose this framework to give you a glimpse of how IMA works behind the scenes—not just the exciting success stories or the impressive impact numbers (though we’re excited to share those too!), but also the “how” and the “why” behind our effective and unique approaches to some of the world’s most persistent health challenges.

We hope you will see

  • How IMA leads in the effort to enhance the lives of the vulnerable communities we serve.
  • How learning from others, and sharing our expertise and experience, expands our impact.
  • How IMA is looking ahead at how we can use our experience to reach more people.

I am honored by your support in this important and lifesaving work. This year, IMA programs directly touched the lives of millions—more people than we have ever reached in nearly six decades of serving the most vulnerable. Thank you for making our work possible and for supporting our vision of health, healing and well-being for all.

As we look ahead to 2019, I am filled with hope and expectation. With your support and partnership, our work will continue to bring critical services to some of the world’s most vulnerable people, restore hope where it once had faded and create sustainable pathways to health for the future. Please join us!

With thanks and partnership,

Rick Santos
